Ember aka Firecracker

My name is Ember. At least that's the name I gave myself after everything came to a halt, after I discovered the hardway that you can lose your life and keep existing. You just move on, keep running, leave no trace, never look back.

I am a runaway. I've never known exactly what or whom I run from. Perhaps it's my past trying to catch up with me, perhaps it's me escaping my future. I know no home, haven't dared call anywhere the "h" word since this race started. I used to live in Mexico City, before the Great Clash of 2019. Now there's no City left, no housing, no safety... the only freedom is what you scrap from the dusty walls of uncertainty.

My professional training covers journalism, research, translation and decoding, sewing, and cooking. I've gradually taught myself Survival 101. There are, however, areas of knowledge and skill that I have yet to learn: electronics, for example. Every now and then, my gadgets will collapse, and I'll have to resort to the underground or my mystery tech to fix them. The former is exceedingly expensive, and it comes hard for me to pay for spares or repairs; the latter, I have never met. One night my electronic reader died, I was devastated... being one of my best friends on those days, I gave it a proper burial and decided to spend the night hidden near the tomb. Next morning I woke to find my e-reader working on full pistons right where I left it the night before. Happened a couple more times before I started leaving some of my own food or drink supplies in exchange. Am I worried he/she is following my lead and could attack me anytime? No, he/she would have done already.

Separated from our family when only teens, a group of friends and I made our way through some rough patches. We grew up together, got raid together, fled together. I am the only one left.

I can't fight for I know no battlefield. I am looking for answers - I have been my entire life -: what happened to my biological parents and siblings? who took my friends? what is the Masterplan? how did this world get this way?

Among stuff I've been able to nick or assemble (with humble help from Mystery Tech), there is a shortwave broadcaster/receiver - a relic of sorts, remainder and reminder of happier times. After numerous futile attempts, I managed to transmit through FCKR (codename: Firecracker), and got a brief yet encouraging response from a certain WKIL. A call to arms, I figured.

That was the first foreign frequency I received, since then I have been hopping zones, following anonymous but somehow reliable clues. All I'm sure right now is I'm moving North, determined to find and aid the so-called Killjoys in their quest for noise.

I will not rest until I reach my destination.

The future is bulletproof.

Ember es mi personaje en el Dangerverse (universo relacionado con el nuevo álbum de My Chemical Romance - "Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys"). Tras incursionar en el misterio y juego construidos e impulsados por la banda, fuimos invitados (los fans en general) a crear nuestros propios personajes dentro de este mundo post-apocalíptico.

New video from DrDeathDefying: Zone surveillance 1C. He calls them Draculoids. Two guys in Miami-Vice suits, remind me of the guys from UA. Face-paint or masks similar to Frank's. Ray guns in their hands. Coming towards camera.

Zone surveillance 1D. 9 secs. Ladyboy skates through screen. Carries something in right hand: laptopish... wears helmet? black square. Twit announces: "Skate your darling little heart out Ladyboy, we need the signal".

Wonder if anybody is connecting the dots between the songs and bands DDD is showing us. Must look into. Realizing I've heard that last one before... "Whisper to a scream" - icicle works.

Novedades sobre 4o álbum de My Chemical Romance

Revisando mi TL el día de hoy encontré esta nota de Kik Axe Music especulando sobre el próximo CD de My Chemical Romance. En ella se toma como referencia la aparición de un posible título ("DANGER DAYS: TRUE LIVES OF THE FABULOUS KILLJOYS.") y una posible fecha de lanzamiento (Noviembre 22, 2010) en el listado en línea de productos musicales de la cadena comercial británica HMV.

En los comentarios a la nota encontré un link provisto por una fan (dedicada: ha seguido todo este asunto misterioso de las transmisiones post-apocalípticas que mencioné el pasado 7 de septiembre), donde publica una foto de la revista Rolling Stone con noticias sobre el mismo tema.

My Chemical Romance

Título aún desconocido. 22/11

My Chemical Romance había casi terminado un LP oscuro, influido por The Stooges, cuando el líder de la banda, Gerard Way, reaccionó algo muy importante: odiaba el resultado. "Intentábamos ser la joven banda de rock americana [N/T: estadounidense]," recuerda, "Hicimos eso y lo que obtuvimos fue aburrido". Desecharon las grabaciones y comenzaron de nuevo, escribieron y grabaron un nuevo paquete de canciones con tonadas pop coloridas y teñidas de sintetizador, completas con un desvergonzado ritmo bailable en "Planetary (GO!)".

Como en el último álbum, el Black Parade del 2006, este disco tiene una concepción unificante: se trata de la transmisión de una estación de radio post-apocalíptica en el 2019.

"Es un disco de fiesta," dice Way. "Lo más aterrador fue admitirnos a nosotros mismos que queríamos pasar un buen rato". Way está especialmente encariñado con la canción que abre el CD, "Na Na Na". "Es el 'Hey Ya' del punk-rock," dice. "Suena como una gran pandilla de niños gritando. Es una estupidez, realmente".

2010

2010 está resultándome un buen año. Sí, festejamos el Bicentenario. Sí, también el Centenario. Sí, se gradúan algunos de mis mejores amigos de la carrera (sniff!). Sí, me encanta el equipo de Esfera Informativa. Sí, entré a la Hora Beatle de Concepto Radial. Sí, el clan LMI rockea (gemela benévola incluida). Sí, buenas salidas con el Dream Team. Sí, cool festivities con la familia... Un montón de cosas que han hecho de lo que va de este año uno muy muy bueno.

Pero, ¿les digo la verdad? ¿así, en serio en serio? Lo que me está haciendo más feliz está relacionado con 3 silencios que se acabaron. En un mismo año salió el nuevo álbum de Linkin Park (a quienes sigo esperando con veladoras encendidas y dedos cruzados), Yellowcard anunció su reunión/regreso y tuvimos noticias acerca del próximo CD de My Chemical Romance (hecho que podría culminar el 22 de noviembre, con el aparente lanzamiento del material).

No puedo decir que uno de dichos acontecimientos me haga más feliz que los otros dos. Son las tres bandas a las que amo, a quienes debo mi lealtad y por quienes he hecho una que otra locura. No puedo evitarlo. La música me hace feliz y estos tres grupos de individuos constituyen mis anclas favoritas para ir un poco a la deriva. No es suficiente todavía: falta anuncio de gira de Linkin Park (y ojalá regresen a México después de casi 9 años), anuncio oficial de lanzamiento de disco de Yellowcard (y después, gira) y algo concreto respecto a My Chemical Romance (todo incluido). Pero no me importa, igual tanto flujo de informaciónha contribuido inmensamente a mi alegría y disfrute personal.

Oh sí, qué buen año está siendo el 2010.

PD: No olvido los momentos difíciles ni las tragedias... pero quiero pensar que todo mejora considerablemente.

Comentario que nunca pude publicar en un reporte sobre la teoría de la conspiración más reciente... ¿qué demonios ocurre con My Chemical Romance?

Based on recent observation... the only one not following DrDeathDefying is Ray, so I would assume he IS Ray.

But then AgentCherriCola is only followed by Frank...

Y yo no termino de entender mucho... sospecho nada más.

Todo el asunto me suena muy steam punk... y muy Umbrella Academy... but then again estamos hablando de 4 tipos que crecieron leyendo comics... entre ellos 1 tipo que escribe comics... y otro tipo que es increíblemente raro... y otro que se deja llevar por la brillantez de su hermano... y Ray, que es el genio silencioso.

¿Sugerencias?
